Why the Alexander Technique?
Alexander Technique Ballarat teaches you how to engage with your body in a more thoughtful, yet naturally poised way. Regular practise will:
Relieve pain and muscular tension
Improve energy levels
Enhance posture, balance and mobility
Breathe easily
Increase range of movement
Reduce anxiety/stress levels
Increase capacity to manage physical limitations
Improve vocal and physical performance
This is a joint exploration. I work one-on-one or in small groups to help you re-educate your central nervous system.
Rather than treating individual symptoms, I will teach you how to recognise underlying patterns of use that cause pain, tension and stress to your body. You will learn how to replace these patterns by activating natural balance, poise and coordination. This involves observing you in activity. It is through simple movements like sitting, standing, walking that you begin to recognise what is going on and then you apply what you learn to other more complex daily activities like using a computer, lifting, gardening, speaking, running, horse riding, swimming, etc.
I use verbal and manual guidance to give you a different experience of your overall coordination. I will also teach you ways to change your thinking that will help you to coordinate.
